The former PUC building on Queen Street East in Sault Ste. Marie has a new face and a new purpose. The Superior Centre is set to open April 1st, 2017, and offer a centralized home for local health professionals. The new tenants of Superior Centre include Superior Family Health Team, Dr. Liz Golesic, Ophthalmologist, and David Simard, Chiropodist/Foot Specialist with the Simard Foot & Ankle Clinic.

The accessible, fully renovated building has been redesigned to bring it into the future, and boasts a number of modern amenities, including an in-floor heating system, energy efficient lighting and heating, and a new, larger elevator for comfort and convenience. The renovation project was design by MGP Architects · Engineer Inc., with an inspiration to create a bright, inviting space for visitors and tenants alike.

The Superior Health Centre also features free parking for visitors of the three floors of professional office space.

The building, located at 765 Queen Street East has a rich and storied history here in Sault Ste. Marie. It was originally built for PUC in 1950, and an addition was added to the building in the late ‘80s.

Albert Giommi, owner of Superior Health Centre, said he was drawn to purchasing the former PUC building because he is passionate about helping to revitalize the downtown. “If our downtown can prosper by bringing business back down to the core, that’s all I care about. It’s time to get people utilizing the downtown again.”

Giommi is a well-respected local entrepreneur who puts his community first. He has been in business for over 25 years, and positively impacted not only the business community in Sault Ste. Marie, but the community-at-large through his numerous volunteer roles in sports, health and wellness.
