Sault and District Prospectors Association

After last week’s article asking to hear about your stories, we’ve been getting some response from interested people who would like to showcase their groups, businesses, and events.  One such submission was from Vivienne Burns on behalf of the Sault & District Prospectors Association.  She writes:

“The Sault & District Prospectors Association (SDPA) is an affiliate of the Ontario Prospectors Association (OPA). Members come from a range of backgrounds, including: prospectors, geologists, mineral collectors, engineers, and teachers, to name but a few. The SDPA promotes prospecting, mining and the science of geology throughout the Sault Ste. Marie region and Ontario.

We meet the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, at city hall. Discussions center around topics such as the mining act and how it impacts the industry, the use of technology for today’s prospector, First Nations issues and what is new in the area. Every 3 years we host the Northeastern Ontario Mines and Minerals Symposium (NEOMMS), which attracts experts and interested parties from all over Canada. The local group is small but dedicated to the promotion of this industry in our area. We invite you to join the SDPA/OPA and to actively participate in our ongoing activities.”
