Tim Hendry has always been an Elvis fan and so was his Dad. “He was a huge Elvis fan and one of the main reasons why I started being an Elvis tribute performer” Hendry said. Hendry who goes by his stage name “Tim E.” will make a return to the Sault March 8th for the first annual Diamond Jim Memorial concert at the Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

Hendry was recently named the Number 1 Elvis tribute artist in the world and travels the U.S. And Canada defending that title – which doesn’t appear to be very hard. Many people who see Hendry dressed like the “king” of rock n roll, often do a double take. But his appearance is just one of the reasons why people flock to his shows. His voice is another. He sounds and acts just like Elvis in his prime along with a 12 piece show band. “People can expect to see a re-creation of one Elvis’ live concerts. All the rock n roll hits and of course the big powerful ballads and some of his favourite gospel too. All the crazy moves too, Like you went back in time and were seeing Elvis live in concert” Hendry said.

The Sault Ste. Marie concert will have special meaning to Hendry, who is honouring his Father, Diamond Jim who sucumbed to cancer almost seven years ago. It’s also a chance to return to his roots being a native of Sault Ste. Marie.

“Diamond Jim was my father and my best friend. Everyone who knew him anywhere… be it in his hometown of the Soo or anywhere for that matter…” Hendry said, “I wanted to do it for him.”

Portion of the proceeds from the March 8th show will be donated to the Candian Cancer Society office in Sault Ste. Marie.

“I want to help raise money to fight this disgusting disease that affects us all and pay tribute to and honour my father. I miss him every day very much. I would like to make this an annual event with a different type of show every year and bring some great entertainment to the great people of Sault Ste. Marie”

ELVIS-PinosHendry appeared at numerous locations on Valentine’s Day to make draws for tickets for over 10 lucky people. Hendry showed up at the Country Way on Brock Street and treated the staff to an impromptu performance right in the store. Later he was spotted at Pino’s on Trunk Road for two more draws.
