The City of Sault Ste. Marie has an opportunity for the position of TEMPORARY ACCOUNTING CLERK. The Social Services Department – Finance Division is seeking a dynamic individual who is interested in a contract opportunity (up to 7 months).
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for coordinating the maintenance of statistical and financial record keeping in supporting service delivery, and posting of monthly Form 5 in general ledger. This individual will prepare annual Levy letters , track and prepare monthly reports. Works with staff to reconcile spreadsheet and post in General Ledger. Prepares various year end audit working papers and provides statistical reports as required to support Program Delivery and Administrative Reports.
The ideal candidate will possess a University degree in Business, Accounting or Finance. Minimum two (2) years of accounting experience preferably in a municipal setting and comprehensive knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping/purchasing principles. Additionally this individual will have excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service skills. He/she must have a proficient knowledge of Excel
spreadsheets & computerized accounting systems and have the ability to process large amounts of transactions with speed and accuracy. This individual must be comfortable with handling large amounts of cash and operating a cash receipt system.
Minimum wage rate for this position – Job Class 7 $23.51 per hour.
