Plans have been confirmed that at least one Cruise ship will dock in Sault Ste. Marie this summer.

MS Yorktown will make its way to the Sault this June according to the Travel Dynamics International who are booking the Great Lakes cruise aboard the 130 passenger ship.  The June 21-28th sailing begins in Chicago and visits Manitowoc, WI, Manistique, MI, Mackinaw Island, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Marathon, Red Rock, Thunder Bay and Grand Marais along the way to Duluth, MN.

Later this summer, the ship will make a return visit from Duluth and does the cruise in reverse order, finishing up in Chicago. August 9-18, 2014.

Only a certain size cruise ship can navigate through the relatively shallow waters of the St. Mary’s River.

In past years, several other large cruise ships have sailed through the Sault, the Clelia II, the Orion, the Grand Mariner and the M.S. Columbus.
