The Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre will receive a financial boost from a recent Coffee Break/Jean Day held at the Civic Centre. The April 24 fundraising event, organized in partnership with the City’s Fundraising Committee and Walmart (Great Northern) was a great success, raising a combined total of $2,000.
City employees from the Civic Centre and satellite offices including Fire Services, Social Services and the Library donated $5 each to wear jeans and enjoy a coffee, raising $1,000 with proceeds matched dollar for dollar by Walmart.
The joint donation will go towards the cost of kitchen renovations being done at the Centre.
This fundraising event is one of many activities organized by the Civic Centre Fundraising Committee in support of local charities.
