Get ready for a prolonged period of rain – Spring rain that is, and you should be happy about it.
Clouds begin to thicken today but the rain should hold off until overnight. Then it continues for most of the week. Temperatures on the other hand will hit seasonal values or below normal for this period. Normal daytime highs for the end of April should be 10c or slightly higher. We won’t hit the mark this week thanks to the clouds and rain, but it should clean the place up a bit and melt away whatever snow is left – at least in the city.
A disturbance from the Gulf of Mexico is traveling slowly north towards the Great Lakes, as this warmer air and moisture moves north it will collide with the cooler air mass over the area…and that’s where the rain comes in. With the bulk of rain showers Tuesday and Wednesday and then returning for Saturday – close to 40mm is forecast.
As May comes in, expect lower than normal temperatures to start the month however a warming trend looks like it will develop starting mid May.
On the bright side, it appears we’re done with snow….for now.
