Are you a student planning to or currently attending Sault College for a trade? The United Way of Sault Ste. Marie and district has five bursaries of $1,500 available to help out but the deadline for applications is fast approaching!
The United Way of Sault Ste. Marie and district Trades bursaries are available to students who meet the following criteria:
- Student
– has graduated or will be graduating from a secondary school in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario or the district of Algoma from White River to Elliot Lake
– as well as mature students and returning Sault College 2nd & 3rd year trades students who have graduated from secondary school in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario or the district of Algoma from White River to Elliot Lake - Student has been accepted into an approved* Sault College Trades program
- Student has demonstrated significant volunteer involvement in his / her community
- Student demonstrates financial need
Five bursaries of $1,500 each will be awarded for each academic year. Bursaries will be paid directly to Sault College on behalf of the successful candidate in two instalments of $750 per semester.

- Electrical Engineering Technician–Process Automation & Trades
- Instrumentation Technician
- Marine & Small Powered Equipment
- Mechanical Engineering Technician – Manufacturing
- Mechanical Engineering Technician – Industrial Maintenance
- Mechanical Techniques – Machine Shop
- Metal Fabrication Technician
- Motive Power Fundamentals – Automotive Repair
- Motive Power Fundamentals – Heavy Equipment & Truck Repair
- Motive Power Technician – Advanced Repair
- Pre-trades Technology
- Residential Construction Technician
- Welding Techniques
The application deadline is Wednesday April 30th, 2014. Completed applications are to be submitted at the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie, located at 7A Oxford Street here in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.
