Sault Plays Host To Ontario Chamber of Commerce Convention on Friday

Sault Ste. Marie will play host to hundreds of delegates for the 2014 Ontario Chamber of Commerce General Meeting and Convention.

“We are thrilled to be facilitating the convention for the first time since 1989, when we celebrated our 100th Anniversary and now again as we celebrate out 125th Anniversary!” said Trisha Mitchell, Special Events Co‐ordinator, Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce

Opening ceremonies for the convention will be the morning of Friday May 2nd at the Comfort Suites and Conference Centre at 9am. Later that night, the Friday Night Social will be held at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

The core business of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is policy development and advocacy on behalf of the Ontario business community. As a grassroots organization, the activities of Ontario’s Business Advocate are greatly enhanced by the participation of our members – chambers, boards of trade and corporate – on OCC policy.

The OCC’s AGM & Convention allows members to learn from subject experts, debate policy resolutions and formulate the OCC’s annual advocacy strategies. Our annual financial reports are also made public to our membership at this meeting. Local Chambers bid to host the AGM & Convention so the Chamber Network can see and learn about all areas of our province.
