obit-no-picSurrounded by her loving family, Doreen Scott, a faithful daughter of the King of Kings, stepped humbly but confidently into heaven on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the age of 84 to be reunited with her husband of 63 years, Dennis Scott.

Doreen was the beloved, cherished mother of Debbie Gibbons (husband, Lorrie), Donna-Lee Scott and David Scott (wife, Jane) and the precious grandmother of Matthew Gibbons (Anna), Todd Gibbons (Becky), Benton Gibbons (Rebekah), Amanda Hotson (Jesse), Johnathan Scott and Sarah Scott and great grandmother of Knox Gibbons and Mathias Hotson. Mom has one sister, the late Rhea Aronson (Walter) and one brother, Bob Martin (Norma). She is remembered by sister-in-law Sheila Maeck (Ken) and predeceased by in-laws Bill & Ruth Scott, Vivian & John Mousseau and Clayton Scott.

Doreen’s passing is a loss to her many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly and eagerly welcomed to her kitchen table at any time.

Doreen graduated from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College and though she worked from home for many years, she also had a lengthy career as an Area Manager for Weight Watchers International where she made many dear friends. Mom loved the Lord passionately and was fervent in her desire to share that love with everyone. Mom loved people, loved entertaining and served wherever needed including faithfully as Women’s Ministry Director in her church … she served with flour on her hands. We remember a Mom who loved unconditionally, went above and beyond in her care for us, who loved fun, threw great parties, and set the bar high for being a good parent.

Family and friends may call at Arthur Funeral Home, 492 Wellington Street East, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 2L9 on Wednesday, April 9 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, 306 McNabb Street, Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday, April 10th at 11 am.

Mom spent many, many volunteer hours working at Spring Bay Camp on Manitoulin Island and so, in her memory, donations may be made to Spring Bay Pentecostal Camp (c/o 3214 South Service Road, Burlington, ON L7N 3J2) or the charity of your choice.

Mom’s life brimmed with love and she had an unwavering faith in God – what a legacy.
