Obituary-No-PhotoSeptember 18, 1926 – May 5, 2014 – We regret to announce the passing of Alex Buchanan on May 5, 2014, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Alex was a life – long resident of Echo Bay where he and his family carried out a Logging/Saw Mill and Retail business spanning over 70 years and three generations.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sarah Jane and Ed Buchanan, his Brother, Garfield, and Sister Eva. He will be missed by his niece, Pam Buchanan and her husband, Charlie Boulet of Timmins.

Alex enjoyed life and all of its wonders. Two weeks prior to his passing, he ate maple syrup at Gilbertson’s Pancake House on St. Joseph’s Island. He was active in the local Horticultural Society and enjoyed attending local Social Events. We ask that when you think of Alex, you remember the many acts of kindness that Alex tended to do on a random and daily basis. Such examples include being the first to send greeting cards to his Friends on every special occasion, handing out candy at Easter to his Fellow Parishioners at Church, tending to his garden, and sharing his winnings on “break open” tickets.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in Alex’s honour will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 2 pm.

The Family appreciates the excellent care provided by the Staff at the F.J. Davey Home during his stay.

Memorial contributions in Alex’s memory would be welcomed by St. George’s Anglican Church, Echo Bay, or the Charity of your Choice.
