UPDATE On Sunday May 4th, 2014 at 9:50 PM 20 year old Robert Atkinson of 172 Glengary Gate Crescent turned himself in to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service where he was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. It is alleged that at approximately 4:00 AM on Saturday May 3rd, 2014 while at an outdoor location in the area of Gibbs Street at Trunk Road the accused Atkinson punched the 25 year old male victim once in the head causing the victim to fall to the ground unconscious. The victim was transported to the Sault Area Hospital with a significant head injury that was deemed to be life threatening. The victim was transferred to a medical facility in Sudbury later that morning where he is currently listed as being in a stable condition. Police believe the victim received the head injury as a result of the assault.
The accused Robert Atkinson will be appearing in bail court this morning, Monday May 5th, 2014 at 10:00am.

It is alleged that on May 3, 2014 at approximately 3:56 am the accused Robert Atkinson age 20 of 172 Glengary Gate Crescent did assault the victim by punching him once on the right side of the victim’s head. The victim fell to the ground unconscious.
The victim did require emergency surgery. On May 4, 2014 the accused turned himself in to police. The accused was arrested for aggravated assault and will appear in bail court on May 5, 2014 at 10:00am.
