On Thursday May 8th, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishinabek Police Service will be participating in a provincial-wide initiative of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), known as the Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day program.

The idea behind the program is to increase the public’s awareness of the importance of going through medicine cabinets to find out what medications are expired and what medications are not used anymore.

Citizens can bring their expired and unused medications to the following locations during the following times on May 8th:

Station Mall (former English Butler location) between 10 am to 2 pm

The Senior Citizens Drop In Centre, 619 Bay Street between 10 am to 12 noon

Uniformed members from the three Services will be at both sites collecting the medications.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishinabek Polilce Service would like to remind the public that unused and expired prescription medications can be returned to any local pharmacy year round as well.
