Is There Someone Suspicious at your Door?

Door to Door

Over the weekend the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was advised of a suspicious person.
A local resident reported that a female approached their residence and indicated that she was there to “inspect” the alarm system. The resident was alert enough not to let the female into the residence and did not answer her questions.

The resident then contacted their alarm provider, ATS. ATS has confirmed that they do not have anyone going door to door indicating they are doing alarm inspections.

The female wore a ball cap with the word “Security” on it.
ATS Alarms, as well as many other alarm companies, do not make unscheduled calls. Any inspections on an alarm system are prearranged first.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind citizens to be cautious about persons going door to door.

If you did not call a company about any type of inspection, such as alarm or furnace, do not let the person at your door into your home. That person may very well be casing your residence for a future break and enter.

If you engage in a conversation with someone going door to door, ensure you don’t release personal information such as whether there is an alarm in the home or the work hours of people living in the home.
