On May 12, 2014 at 10:45 am, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment was conducting stationary radar on Highway 17 in Tiernan Township just south of Wawa.
The OPP officer had occasion to stop a 2014 Toyota Corolla travelling at a high rate of speed. Police investigation led to the arrest of all three occupants; 22-year-old Jacob CARR, 21-year-old Dustin DIFILIPPO and 28-year-old Adam NASH all of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Mr. CARR stands charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana as per s. 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).
Mr. NASH stands charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.
Mr. DIFILIPPO stands charged with Obstruct Peace Officer as per s. 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
All three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Wawa, Ontario at the Court of Justice on August 18, 2014.
As a result of this investigation OPP seized over 385 grams of Cannabis Marihuana valued at over $7700.
