A strong showing overall in the Boys Division and domination in the Pee Wee Girls age group propelled St. Paul to victory in the HSCDSB East Zone Track Meet held on Wednesday, June 11. The Boys team won the points tally in all four groups while the Patriots Pee Wee Girls took six of the nine events in that age category.
St. Mary’s French Immersion was second in the standings with Holy Cross third.
There was one new Board record set when Nicole Pulente from Holy Cross won the Bantam Girls 200 metres in a time of 28.57 seconds.
St. Paul’s Riley Coventry led the Pee Wee Group domination with the only three gold medal performance of the day. She won the 200 and 800 metres and was part of the 400 metre relay gold medal team. Teammate Alyssa Rizzo won the 400 and 100 metres. Alexa Beith from St. Mary’s French Immersion was gold in the triple jump and running long jump.
In the Atom Division, Tyson Doucette from St. Mary’s French Immersion won the 50 metres and running long jump while St. Paul’s Miranda Taylor won the 100 metres and high jump. In Pee Wee Boys, Cam Baber from St. Paul won the 100 and 200 metres while Jacob Bumbacco from Holy Cross took gold in the 400M and triple jump. The Griffins Jordan Ritchie won gold in the triple jump and softball throw. In Bantam Boys, Skylar Premo-Miceli from St. Mary’s French Immersion won the 100 and triple jump while Lucas Theriault from St. Paul won the 400M and running long jump.
Top performers from all teams advance to the HSCDSB Elementary Track Championship scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 at the Joe Forman Track.
