McLEAN, David Donald

McLean-David-DonaldIt is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our precious son, David Donald on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Born on June 2, 1994 to Donald and Carla McLean, David was a loving brother to Rachel and Mark and treasured grandson of Colin and Barbara McLean and Mel and Sue Stanghetta. He will be incredibly missed by aunts and uncles Carolyn and Wayne, Karen and Mike, Richard and Sherry, Paula and Terry, Mel and Lori, Susan and John and by cousins Adrian, Patrick, Brooklyn, Paul, Kristin, Mindy, Jocelyn, Richard, Tara, Tess, Connor, and Kieran. He was a special friend to Sarah Boudreau.

David was a rare and a unique spirit who was living his authentic life. He was a gentle, kind and caring young man, always ready to listen and help anyone who needed him. David loved being outdoors, especially at Papa’s and Grandma’s camp at Trout Lake where he swam, water-skied and enjoyed the unplugged serenity of nature. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who seized every opportunity to bring home his latest catch to share.

Early in his life and throughout it, David showed incredible curiosity about everything and everyone he encountered, frequently asking ‘why’ and ‘how’ to quench his thirst for knowledge and understanding. He was a true ‘left-hander’ – inquisitive and intuitive. David was an accomplished learner and multiple scholarship recipient who had just graduated from the Electrical Engineering Technician – Process Automation Program at Sault College.

While he loved and excelled at many sports such as basketball, hockey and skiing, for him it was being part of a team that was the real thrill in sports. David lived life deeply, fully and genuinely on the journey to being the best he could be.   He was true to himself and others. David will always be our loving gift from God.

David’s family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Remembrance at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12 pm. Father Pat Woods officiating.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sault College for the David McLean Memorial Scholarship.
