Gusty winds are being blamed for this fallen tree downtown near the post office. The mature tree fell on a portion of Queen Street blocking traffic in one lane.

Luckily no cars or people were in the path of the tree. Strong winds associated with a storm system moving into the Great Lakes Sunday saw sustained winds of about 20 km/h with frequent gusts clocked at 50 km/h Sunday afternoon.  Rain and possible thunderstorms are possible overnight.

Meanwhile, the tree has been cleaned up.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Services were called to deal with the situation.
