Yummy Local Food!

Thousands headed downtown Saturday afternoon to take in the great weather and 1st annual Eat Algoma Festival. The new downtown event sponsored by RAIN (Rural Agri-Innovation Network) part of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre and the Nordik Institute celebrates local food and its producers.

Food organizations from Urban Bee Keeping, Slow Food Algoma Food Network as well as Community Garden Network and the Community Garden at the Mill Market along with Johnson Farmers Market, Algoma Farmers Market and Mill Market joined together to celebrate the season.

Fun activities for the whole family from a Kid Zone to a licensed outdoor patio with live entertainment made the downtown area from East to Brock street a great venue for the first ever event.

A restaurant food challenge between farmers, Collholm farms, Desbarats Country Produce and Valleyfield Farm in head to head competition with local restaurants and food vendors, Low and Slow, The Gnarly Bistro, Embers and Cafe Natura added to the event.
