You really have to give kudos to the folks at the The Ermatinger•Clergue National Historic Site and the exciting new addition of the Heritage Discovery Centre that opens Thursday July 17 to the public. You might even call it the New Stone House.
The $4 million centre boosts a new exhibition gallery, an 1812 gallery, a multimedia theatre where visitors can experience the Sault Ste. Marie story from the beginning into the industrial revolution at the turn of the 20th century. The expanded gift shop and an environmentally controlled storage space for its permanent collection are also part of the new building that will now act as the gateway to the main site.
Kathryn Fisher, Curator of the site tells Saultonline.com that the Old Stone House is celebrating it’s 200th anniversary this year with some renovations of its own including the summer kitchen.
If you ever wanted to the know the nitty gritty of the rich history of the Sault, the Heritage Discovery Centre is must see.
While the centre officially opens on Thursday Saultonline.com was given a sneak peek , watch the video for more.
