Who’s The Biggest Public Servant Earner in the Sault?

The annual public service “sunshine” list was released with several local public servants being added to the list in Sault Ste. Marie.

The list is compiled each year from the provincial government for those who earn 6 figures or more from the public purse.

Education leads the pack with close to 240 people earning more than $100,000 annually. 85 of those at the Algoma District School Board,(down 9 employees from last year) another 44 at the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board another 77 at Sault College and 31 at Algoma University.

ADSB director of education Lucia Reece led the way with $193,624. His counterpart at the HSDSB, John Stadnyk pulled in about the same at $194,669.

Dr. Ron Common President of Sault College earned $286,390 making him this biggest earner of the 77 employee on the list at the college. Twelve more people made the list at Algoma University this time around. President Richard Myers earned a salary of $199,000.

David Orazietti saw a huge payraise last year when he was sworn in a minister of Natural Resources giving him a $30,000 raise to top off at $162,160 for the year.

19 City employees were added to the list this year making 124 city employees in total earning over $100,000 with 67 city police employees, 32 fire department workers and one library employee.

The top public servant employees in the Sault come from the health sector, Heather O’Brien, chief of staff, earned a salary of $321,949, while SAH president and chief executive officer Ron Gagnon saw an pay increase of over $5,000 to $305,890 this past year.
