Any budding artist could not resist the temptation of a blank canvas, and with that in mind many tried their hand at figure drawing as part of Art In The Park – the annual show and sale sponsored by the Art’s Council of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma at Bondar Pavilion Sunday.
Several local artisans representing a number of mediums from textile , hand made crafts to large scale oil and watercolour paintings and everything in between. Local artist, Rose Sundaram who operates Rose’s Art Gallery on Bruce street is now working strictly in pastels after years of using oils and acrylics. The detail in her work is amazing.
Sundarum is just one of many artists that have painted for years and now making a living at it, though all of the artists we spoke with said it’s never about the money but the love of what they’re doing.
“You can certainly get lost in your work and the time flies by” said Marilyn Jones, who only recently started painting when she retired to fill the time. “I always knew I could do it, I just couldn’t find the time before retirement”
SaultOnline.com had a chance to talk to many of the creative minds behind the show, check out our visit in the photo gallery.
