An exciting experience is taking place for young entrepreneurs in Algoma and Manitoulin throughout this week.
Youth Enterprise Camp, part of the Northern Ontario Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative, financially supported by FedNor/Industry Canada, the Ontario Trillium Foundation as well as community businesses and organizations, will teach the fundamentals of starting a business to campers aged 9- 13. Starting on Monday August 11th, the Community Futures Development Corporations in Algoma and Manitoulin (including Superior East CFDC, Community Development Corporation of Sault Ste. Marie & Area, East Algoma CFDC, and LAMBAC), and in partnership with Algoma University, have collaborated to offer this exciting residential camp.
The Youth Enterprise Camp offers many fun and exciting activities while campers learn about the world of business. Throughout the week, campers will work in teams to develop their own business in which they will cover all aspects of planning a business, from idea generation to contacting suppliers and purchasing, financing and negotiating a loan, manufacturing a product, marketing, and to the big day in which they actually SELL THEIR PRODUCTS.
We invite you to take part in this exciting event, Youth Enterprise Camp “Business for a Day”, which will take place at the Station Mall (near the Sears Entrance) in Sault Ste Marie on Friday, August 15th from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It is our hope that by instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in our northern youth we will lay the foundation for a healthy economy.
