Parts of the downtown was closed to traffic Saturday due to an Emergency on Queen Street, though unlike most emergency situations, you were invited to this one.
“Emergency” is the brain child of Steve Alexander, owner of the downtown bar, Loplops who saw the need to create a new street party music festival to fill the void from the absence of Buskerfest and the Second Stage, part of Rotaryfest.
The one day, all day music festival featured 20 different acts from a wide range of musical talents both locally and from outside the city. Mill Market and the Mill Market Flea market also set up for those browsing along with artisans and vendors.
Alexander hopes Emergency will become a regular summer-time fixture on Queen Street and with Buskerfest set to return in 2015, combine both festivals.
