Sault Ste. Marie’s newest big box store and largest pet supplies outlet is set to open soon. PetSmart will open its doors Monday, August 25 with a “soft opening” for two weeks leading up to a large grand opening event on Saturday September 6th.
Drew Overman, Operations Manager for the Sault Ste. Marie PetSmart says the store offers a wide range of services and products and has also forged a new partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society for the adoption of cats.
“An adoption centre located near the front of the store will be maintained by Humane Society staff” said Overman. “We don’t have the physical capacity to have dogs, we need a bigger space but we will have on site events with the humane society”
Fish, and small animals such as Guinea pigs , hamsters , reptiles and lizards will also be on-site for sale.” All of the animals on-site are well taken care of with state of the art facilities and the well being of the animal is paramount to us” Overman said.
PetSmart adds to the growing number of big box outlets located in the Second Line / Great Northern Road area in recent years, joining WalMart and Home Depot located next to Micheal’s Crafts.
The store employs 25 associates with five managers overlooking such services as training and grooming services in the approximately 15,000 square foot outlet. Overman says the store has a “match price” policy on all the merchandise including food products.
The Grand Opening event will offer all sorts of prizes, gift cards, t-shirts and more, store hours are Monday through Saturday 9 am to 9pm and Sundays 10am to 6pm.
SaultOnline.com was invited in for a tour of the new store to show you what you can expect when the doors open.
