It was a beautiful day under the Roberta Bondar tent with nearly a thousand people lined up throughout the afternoon to grab a traditional free poutine loaded with cheese curds and gravy. Families were entertained by professional competitive eaters – Furious Pete (Peter Czerwinski), Deep Dish (Pat Bertoletti) and Gravy (Tim Brown) and our friendly four legged friends – the amazing pigs.
The crowd cheered as the event started with a face off in the Man vs Beast event. The eaters and pigs had five minutes to see who could eat the most amount of poutine. “It was clear who the favourite contender was and when the pigs won, the kids squealed with laughter and excitement” said Farrukh Khan, Event Planning and Marketing Assistant for Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie and Area. “We were so excited to hear from Paul when he called to say that our organization was chosen to help raise funds for our Core Build Program for our upcoming build next spring” Khan said.
Other events included a three way poutine eating challenge amongst the kids and a push up competition with Furious Pete.
