Ward 2 councillor Terry Sheehan wants to know what the city can do about the student housing problem in the Sault. At the last council meeting before the October 27th election, Sheehan presented the following resolution and it was passed.
Whereas the City of Sault Ste. Marie has seen exceptional growth at both Algoma University and Sault College.
Whereas students are coming here to study from across the province, the country and from various parts of the world.
Whereas these students require accommodations while they are here attending school.
Now therefore be it resolved that staff research what other communities are doing as it relates to student housing and also report back on how the City can implement a local Comprehensive Student Housing Plan which will solicit input from all stakeholders within the community.
