Equipment Failure Blamed For Rural West Blackout

Over 1,000 homes in the rural west end of the city was without power due to equipment failure Friday night.

Sault Ste. Marie PUC report that at around 7pm 533 customers lost power. That number was increased to to 1127 customers while crews isolated the problem.

The power was restored to the Second Line W. West of Carpin Beach Rd to Airport Rd. Airport Rd to Pt Des Chenes at around 10:30pm.
