Cherished father to Steven (Penney), Andrew (Donna) and Kimberly (Eric). Very special papa to Chelsey, Thomas, Michael, Tia and Tyson. Stepfather to Tammy Burch and Grampa Len to R.J. Wood. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and their achievements. Special brother to Rick Irvine of Grand Prairie, Alberta aka “the Stan and Ollie boys” and Roseann Plouffe (Tony Syrette).
Leonard will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and by his friend Betty Irvine. Leonard is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret Irvine.
He was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Heyden-Goulais Aerie 4061. He held the offices of President, dishwasher, bartender, trustee and treasurer. Over the years, he enjoyed bowling and darts. His favourite activity was to go hunting, fishing and camping. In his later years, he looked forward to sharing this time with his sons and grandsons every season. Sometimes he loved to sit in the bush and enjoy nature with all her animals and beautiful colour. Leonard loved animals and the Irvine household has always had pets. His latest favourite buddy was George, our beloved black Labrador, George who unfortunately passed away this year.
Leonard will be greatly missed by many friends and by the friends he made at the Church of the Nazarene, where we married and attended. He worked at Algoma Steel for 38 years as an Electrical Repair person and he was the very best in his field. Friends may call at Pim Street Community Church on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Pastor Phil Sabine officiating.
Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to ARCH or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) www.northwoodfuneral.com
