Poop, Pouts, Porn and Pollution

I live on a nice street with nice neighbors. There are a lot of dog walkers in the area and they for the most part are considerate and friendly. Two lots down from my house there is an empty lot that I often walk by.

This spring I started noticing little bits of plastic protruding through the snow on this empty lot, and then as the snow melted I could see even more plastic. Some of it was white, some was black and some of it was blue. Out of curiosity one day I decided to look a little more closely to see what it was.

I found my answer. There were bags of dog poop!

It appears that people are pretending to be thoughtful dog owners by picking up after their dog, but then for some reason, instead of taking it home with them to dispose of, they are simply throwing the used bags on to this open lot.

What the heck are they thinking?

It’s still going on..Nicely tied bags of dog poop appear regularly and they aren’t going away. Obviously these people are lazy idiots. If they are going to throw away the poop, then it would be better just to leave the poop where it is. At least over time, it will disintegrate. Plastic bags take YEARS to decompose. So now there will be plastic bags of poop galore for years to come, unless someone decides to pick it all up and get rid of it.

I’m not the only one who has seen this type of thing. A friend of mine who walks his dog everyday has seen these same types of plastic presents tied to trees!

I don’t understand how people can be so thoughtless.

I’m not going to be the one who cleans up this mess but I am going to do this… I will watch out my window and if I see someone throwing their poop bags into the lot, I am going to record them on my iPod. I will then go and tell them that although I don’t know who they are or where they live, unless they pick up their contribution to pollution, I am going to put the video on You Tube. Surely someone will recognize them and hopefully it will shame them, but maybe not. People this shallow and stupid probably won’t even care.

Facebook is a fun thing, and it has been a wonderful tool to bring people together and to keep up on the activities of our friends and family. But I really have to wonder sometimes about the seemingly large number of people with self-esteem problems.

There are some people who seem to think that the more revealing the outfit, the more pouty the lips (aka Duck Face) and the more seductive the pose, the better. They post the photo and then wait to see how many “Likes” they receive. I swear that one girl I know of must spend her entire day deciding which “selfie” to put up that day. Her profile picture is changed everyday, sometimes twice a day depending on what costume, lingerie or amount of cleavage she feels will get her the most noticed. I wonder about these people and how needy they are. Maybe they need psychiatric help….a lot of it!

Facebook can provide entertainment and is often a place to find some good jokes and have a laugh or two.

But some people go way too far. I have seen posts that are truly vulgar and really have no place being posted anywhere except maybe Penthouse Forum. Really! I can appreciate off-color jokes and I don’t mind if there is some swearing involved. I’m certainly not a prude., and I love to laugh as much as the next person. But I often wonder how these people would feel if they knew their parents, or even their children were seeing some of the stuff they post on social media. These posts aren’t funny or even entertaining. It seems they just do it for shock value, and in many cases it’s working. But people reading these posts usually are not amused, they just think you’re a moron for posting these things.

And while we’re on the subject, please remember¸ we really don’t care if you’ve had sex last night or how many times you had it. Keep those things between yourself and your lover. Not everything that happens between you needs to be shared with the world.

One final rant.

I spend a lot of time in the summer strolling on the beaches and I am appalled at the amount of garbage there is to find. Beer bottles, often broken, pop cans, empty snack bags, and even dirty diapers are just left there. Please people, pick up your trash and respect nature. We have wonderful beaches and forests around here.If you had room in your gear to bring it to where you are spending the day, you obviously have enough room to take it back with you. Let’s leave our beautiful outdoors in pristine condition so that it can be enjoyed by everyone.

So , in short, Pick up your dog poop, lose the pout and the porn and stash your trash.
