On September 5th, 2014, Ross Romano announced his candidacy in the 2014 Sault Ste. Marie Municipal Election for Ward 6 Councillor. Romano, a civil and criminal litigation lawyer and active community volunteer, was born and raised in Ward 6 in Sault Ste. Marie and he is looking to bring his strong leadership and energy to the municipal council.
“I understand the Sault, and have witnessed its development and growth over the years.” Romano said. “I’m excited to be a part of Sault Ste. Marie’s bright future, and hope to represent the people of Ward 6 diligently.”
Romano’s platform includes bringing innovative ideas and strong leadership to council, while maintaining a sense of fiscal responsibility. “So far, the people of Ward 6 have told me that they want to see their property taxes working for them; and I agree that taxpayers deserve value for money. We are investing into our city through property taxes and we need to ensure that our investment is well-managed: I can help with that. I also plan to focus on essential city services such as road, ditch and sidewalk maintenance, as well as water services.
Active as a community volunteer, Romano is a member of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie and a volunteer coach for the Sault Youth Soccer Association. With his ties to the youth in the community, Romano will actively pursue job creation through economic development and work to reverse the outward migration of the city’s youth.
Intent on making sure that his Ward’s demographics are represented and their needs served, Romano will be calling on the constituents of Ward 6 for feedback on these issues and their top concerns. He will be reaching out to voters by door-to-door, through telephone canvassing, as well as via social media. Regular updates on the election and Romano’s events can be found at www.rossromano.ca
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, in Ward 6, Romano obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Algoma University College in 2001 and his Bachelor of Laws in 2004 from the University of Windsor Law School. Romano returned home to Sault Ste. Marie in 2004 where he has practiced law for the past 10 years. Most recently, he joined the law firm of O’Neill DeLorenzi Mendes practicing in the field of criminal and civil litigation.
An educated, resourceful professional in the community, Ross Romano will be a strong new voice for the people of Ward 6 and will bring enhanced leadership and problem solving to the people of Sault Ste. Marie.
