This is how cities grow. Brand new subdivisions and there’s only a few builders in town that will take on the enormous task of building new neighbourhoods and meeting the residential needs of Sault Ste. Marie. Ficmar Builders Inc. is one of them.
Steve Ficociello & Mario Febbraro started Ficmar and began building the Greenfield subdivision about 6 years ago. “We started out building one or two houses and then it grew from there, we’re down to our last lot before we punch through” Ficociello said, referring to the next stage expansion of the subdivision.
Ficociello is a member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario and is the team’s Project Manager and Designer. Febbraro has been building homes in Sault Ste. Marie for over 20 years.
Ficmar is about to embark on the next stage of 61 lots within a year. To spur interest and to showcase the new subdivision, a model home open house is planned for Sunday, September 28th from 1 to 4pm.
The homes are custom built with plans from Ficmar or from the home buyer and the company can also customize any plan. Most of the homes are of average family size 1,300 to 2,000 square foot range.
“We’re seeing young people just starting out to retired couples looking to downsize” Ficociello said. Ficmar invited SaultOnline.com for a tour of one of the two model homes set for the open house.
The home designed by Ficociello features spacious layouts with an open concept floor plan and top notch finishing such as Maple Hardwood floors and granite counter tops. This home also allows for a huge great room complete with a wet bar sitting over the two car garage. A real beauty.
“This is really the only place we can go if you want a new home built” Febbraro said commenting on the Third Line area and north. The Greenfield subdivision is located off the new section of Third Line E near People’s road entering the subdivision from Balsam Lane onto Chatfield, Konkin Ave.
Ficmar employs 7 people and has quickly made a name for itself for quality construction. The builder’s specialize in turn key homes. “The whole staff gets behind each home we do, there’s a team effort for sure” Febbraro said.
Ficociello says the open houses are a great way to start the process of building your dream home whether you’re looking now or later on. “it can give people a better idea of the whole process and gives them ideas of what they’re looking for”
