Further to a Saultonline.com report this morning, the OPP have confirmed that an officer at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision has been injured.
On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at approximately 6:45 am a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Sault Ste. Marie detachment was injured while conducting traffic control at the scene of a motor vehicle collision north of Alona Bay on Highway 17 in Ryan Township.
The officer was in his cruiser with all emergency lights activated facing northbound when a motorist travelling northbound rear-ended the cruiser.
The officer received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by Sault Area ambulance.
The driver of the other involved motor vehicle was not injured.
On October 13, 2014 at approximately 5:00 pm members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 north in Ryan Township, north of Alona Bay, Ontario.
A tractor trailer transporting non-hazardous goods overturned blocking 3 lanes of a 4 lane section of Highway 17 north.
The highway is presently still down to one lane as crews are working to clean up the material.
The lone occupant and driver of the tractor trailer was treated for minor injuries.
Batchewana First Response, Town and Country Towing and Transfield Services are all on scene.
