Highway 17 Re-opened at St. Joseph Island

The OPP are advising that Highways 17 & 548 at St.  Joseph Island are now open. [divider] The Blind River detachment of the OPP just advised SaultOnline that both Highway 17 and Highway 548 at St. Joseph Island are closed in both directions due to road conditions. This includes the St. Joseph Island Bridge. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. [divider] Blind River Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police advise of the following Road Advisory: Location: Hwy 17 at Hwy 548 (Both Directions) and Hwy 548 to and including St Joseph Island Bridge Brief Description of Event: Hwys closed due to road conditions.   1. Hi, This afternoon around 230 they were putting road deicer on the bridges. Something went wrong. That is what the OPP told me on my way home to Island at 830. Don’t know why they put it on, nothing going on for weather. An experiment that went bad, I guess.
