James Syrette, age 42, of 59 Old Garden River Road is in custody and will be in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on the 11Oct14 at approximately 2:52 p.m., Syrette committed the offence of theft under $5000 and assault by assisting a second suspect (not yet apprehended) in stealing a red Canada Goose Victorian model jacket (value 670.00) from HR Lash on John St. Further the accused punched and struck a store employee in the shoulder and knocked them to the ground when he was being detained. A second male is being sought in the theft and the coat has not been recovered.
On the 13Oct14 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Syrette was arrested on Lyons Avenue the area of Wellington Street east without incident. Upon arrest, the accused had marihuana and eight blue pills, identified as morphine tablets, located on his person.
He was also on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, which he breached on the 11Oct14 and on the 13Oct14. The accused was charged accordingly on all counts.
