(Queen’s Park) The following is a statement from David Orazietti MPP on yesterday’s municipal elections:
I would like to congratulate Mayor-elect Christian Provenzano and City Councillors on their successful election campaign. I look forward to working with the new Mayor and Council as we continue to strengthen our community and move our city forward in a positive direction.
Both new and experienced elected members of council will be able to provide a fresh outlook on numerous issues they will face at City Hall.
Congratulations to all candidates who put their names forward for election. I would also like to express my appreciation and thanks to outgoing Mayor Debbie Amaroso, Councillors Frank Manzo, Pat Mick and Brian Watkins for their hard work and dedication to the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie.
The Province has a strong record of supporting and working with municipalities. In 2014, the Province provided municipalities with approximately $3.5 billion in funding – an increase of more than 200 percent since 2003. The Province looks forward to working with all of the newly elected mayors and city councils to continue strengthening the economy, healthcare, and education.
