You Most Likely Don’t Have an Unpaid Invoice

Computer Bug

Over the past week, we have received a number of reports of a computer virus which seems to be spreading across the area via email. Various businesses and organizations have found themselves victim as once infected, the virus uses their contact lists or address books to send out copies of itself to even more unsuspecting victims.

If you receive an email with a subject line like “Unpaid Invoice” with a PDF attachment, please DO NOT open it! Simply delete the email and do a FULL or COMPLETE virus scan with your preferred antivirus software to ensure you haven’t been infected. Some of the businesses and organizations hit to date include ARCH, Sault College, Palmer Construction, City of Sault Ste. Marie and Rusty McCarthy’s Blues Newsletter.

If your virus software is out of date or you don’t have one installed, there are a number of free Anti-Virus software packages you can download and install quite easily such as Microsoft Security Essentials. For some other choices, check out PC Magazine’s Best Free Antivirus for 2014. Still unsure about how to use or install antivirus software? There are a number of Computer Stores in town who can help out:
