Less than twenty four hours after dropping a 5-4 seven round shootout deficit to OJHL Coffey, Team NOJHL was looking to rebound against OJHL Oates this morning.

Just 5:27 into the first period it would be OJHL Oates getting on the board first with Adam Brady’s first of the tournament from Ian Edmondson and Noah Delmas. Thomas Beretta’s first goal at 6:10 put Team Oates up 2-0 with assists going to Joseph Berton and Jackson Bales. Then at the 14:04 mark of the first, it would be T-Birds rookie forward Nick Sicoly getting Team NOJHL on the board with his first from Dustin Cordeiro and Khadyn Butterfly.

With the NOJHL trailing 2-1 through twenty, OJHL Oates would regain a two goal lead with Ryan Garvey getting his first from Quinn Syrydiuk and Austin Broadhurst at 8:00. Team NOJHL would cut the lead to 3-2 as T-Birds captain Anthony Miller notched his first of the tournament at 12:17 with Dylan Callaghan and Luc Soares picking up the helpers. Spencer MacLean’s first goal tied things up at three at 17:01 with Adam Baxter and Cody Gratton picking up assists.

With the teams tied 3-3 after regulation, Team NOJHL was headed to a shootout for the second straight time but it would be OJHL Oates coming up on top defeating the NOJHL 4-3 which now drops their record to 0-0-2 in the Central Canada Cup Challenge. Thunderbirds net minder Brian Kment was in goal today for Team NOJHL’s loss but this year’s club continues to show positive results after going 0-5 last year in Terrebonne, Quebec. Next action for the NOJHL will be determined later on today once the final standings are out for the round robin.
