Bad Weather Cuts Remembrance Day Short


For the second consecutive year, the Remembrance Day Parade and ceremony at the court house cenotaph was cancelled due to increment weather. Extremely icy conditions, rain and freezing rain along with a new blanket of snow had organizers call it off at around 9:30am.

The indoor ceremony at the Essar Centre at 11am continued as planned, though attendance was down likely due to the weather conditions. SHAW TV provided live television coverage of the one hour ceremony.

Meanwhile, motorists are coping with the hazardous conditions thanks to the first snow storm of the season. About 5cm of snow fell last night prior to changing to freezing rain and ice pellets overnight. Rain will change back to snow showers later Tuesday and environment Canada  is calling for another 10 cm by Wednesday morning.
