Sault College, in partnership with the Zonta Club, is hosting its second Days for Girls Sew-A-Thon to produce feminine hygiene kits in support of two BScN Nursing projects to Nicaragua and Kenya in 2015.
This year, the Men’s Basketball Team has accepted the challenge to help out. Volunteers can see how the team takes on a different kind of action!
Additional volunteers are needed to assist with cutting fabric, pinning, flipping, ironing, and/or sewing. Donations of fabric (cotton, cotton/polyester and flannel – darker and patterned), bars of hotel-sized soaps, washcloths, gallon/large size Ziploc freezer bags, girls’ underwear (sizes 8-14 or ladies S or M), and/or cash are currently being accepted as well.
Date: Saturday, November 15, 2014
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (team in attendance around noon)
Location: Sault College Essar Hall
No experience is necessary, but sewers are asked to bring their own machines, wherever possible. If you would like to know more about this initiative or make a donation in any way, please contact Gabi Doleske at 705-759-2554 ext.2544.
