The Public Works and Transportation Department (PWT) would like to advise residents that refuse and recycling collection has been cancelled for all remaining routes scheduled for pickup today, due to the continuing poor winter conditions Public Works crews are experiencing. Refuse and recycling trucks have been pulled off the roads.
PWT crews are focusing on keeping roads and sidewalks maintained. Refuse and recycling collection will resume tomorrow as regularly scheduled.
Residents affected by today’s cancellation are asked to remove refuse containers and recycling bins from the curbside and place them out next week for pickup. There will be no bag limit for these customers next week.
All other PWT services are currently operating as usual, unless further advised.
It is anticipated that with raising temperatures, City crews will be cutting roads to minimize the effects of forecasted rain on Sunday.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks citizens for their cooperation and understanding during this period of inclement weather. For more information, contact the PWT office at 705-759-5201.
