The 5th Place White Pines Wolverines Junior and Senior girls took to the court at 4th Place St. Basil’s Saints for a berth in the semi-finals.
In the Junior girls match up the first period was a low scoring event as both teams moved the ball around on the outside of the key to make sure that any shots taken would count. At the end of the first period had White Pines leading St. Basil’s by a score of 6 to 2.
The second period was almost a repeat of the first. With very few turnovers and rebounds the Saints made the majority of shots for points while holding White Pines to only score three and at the end of the second period the Wolverines had 9 points while the Saints had 7.
In the third and fourth periods St. Basil’s capitalized on mistakes made by White Pines and with only 2 minutes left in the game the score was 17 to 15 in favor of the Wolverines. By the end of the game the score was tied at 19 a piece forcing a 4 minute overtime period in which White Pines scored 6 points and held St. Basil’s to 0. White Pines will now move on to the semi-final and play the 1st place Korah Colts.
The Senior girls game was quite a runaway as the Wolverines had their heart set on getting into the semi-finals and at the end of the game White Pines Wolverines beat St. Basil’s Saints by a score of 34 to 19. White Pines will now face 1st Place St. Mary’s.

The City final will be held at Sault College on Saturday the 8th of November with the Junior game at 5:15 pm and the Senior game at 7:00 pm.
