The Belleville Bulls put on a late charge in the third period to pull within one goal but they fell short.
At the start of the game the Greyhounds came out strong and was evident by the number of shots on goal and half way through the first period the Hounds led the Bulls with shots on net 9 to 2.
On the power play with Bulls’ Matt Luff in the penalty box for Delay of Game the Sault would get on the board with a goal by Tim Gettinger at 17:37 to lead Belleville 1-0 and that would be the score after the first period.
In the second period the Greyhounds kept up the pressure and Tim Gettinger came close to getting his second goal of the night on a short-handed chance with Bryan Moore in the penalty box for Tripping. Zachary Senyshyn would add to the Greyhounds lead at 4:44 and Tim Gettinger was not denied with his second goal of the night at 8:43 of the second period and at the close of the second period the Greyhounds lead Belleville by a score of 3-0.
Belleville would mount a charge in the third period scoring two goals, the first one by Remie Elie at 10:59 and the second by Stephen Harper at 17:22.
With just under a minute and a half Belleville’s net minder Charlie Graham headed to the bench for an extra attacker. With a face-off in the neutral zone Graham returned to the net at 1:05 but as soon as the puck was deep in the Greyhounds zone Graham headed back to the bench.
During the last minute of the game with the Bulls having an extra attacker Brandon Halverson made a number of key saves to keep the Bulls from scoring and at the end of the game the Greyhounds beat the Bulls 3-2.
