
Sault College played host for the Girls’ Basketball City Final for a double header for the Juniors and Seniors Girls Basketball.
In the Junior matchup 1st place Korah Colts traded hoops with 3rd place Superior Heights Steelhawks.
The first game had the Juniors hit the court. Korah took the lead early in the 1st quarter and sank most of their shots. Superior Heights made quite a few errors resulting in a high foul count and trailed the Colts by 10 points at the end of the quarter with Korah having 21 points and Superior Heights 11.
The 2nd quarter saw both teams trade baskets and points almost evenly and at the end of the 2nd quarter the score was Korah Colts-29, Superior Heights Steelhawks-17.
Korah would pull away from Superior Heights in the 3rd quarter increasing their lead by 21 points but Superior Heights would rebound in the 4th quarter and closed the gap by only letting the Colts add 6 points while Superior Heights added 14.
The Korah Colts Junior Girls were crowned City Champs with the final score of Korah – 49, Superior Heights – 36.
The Senior game had 1st Place St. Mary’s Saints go up against 3rd place Korah Colts.

St. Mary’s had the lead for most of the 1st half of the match up with both teams coming close to being even and had the Knights leading the Colts by a score of 20 to 16 at the end of the 2nd quarter.
The 3rd quarter had the Colts close in on the Knights by an extra basket and at the end of the 3rd St. Mary’s still had the lead over Korah with the score set at 28 – 26.
In the last quarter of the game, some fans were saying it was like watching a tennis match as both teams went back and forth.

Korah kept St. Mary’s from dropping any hoops for almost 7 minutes of the 8 minute quarter while adding 10 points their tally and have the Colts leading the Saints by 7 points with only 1:11 to go in the game.
St. Mary’s would add 3 points on free throws and sink a 2 point basket falling short of winning the game.
The Korah Colts Senior Girls were crowned City Champs with the final score of Korah 37, St. Mary’s 33.
Top point getters for Korah were Tori Ivey with 11 and Averi Bodnar with 10. For St. Mary’s Alicia Gibbs had 10, Hannah Soares with 8 and Julia Pulente had 6.
Both the Juniors and Seniors from Korah will play in the NOSSA Championship on Saturday November 15th.
