Passed away gently on Thursday, November 6th, 2014 at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 65.
Son of the late Susan (O’Hagan) and Louis Lapointe. Cherished father of Dean, Ryan and Marc Lapointe. Brother of Peter (Shirley) of Moose Jaw, SK, Patricia (Richard) Annett, Joseph (Jeannette) and Maureen (Richard) Bellerose all of Sault Ste Marie. Special nephew of the late Teresa Lapointe. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted teacher and coach. Louis ran summer sports schools which grew to over 50 teams throughout the Sault. He coached Lakeway basketball as well. Louis received his BA from Laurentian University then his Bachelor of Education from The University of Toronto. His teaching career was spent in Toronto, Ontario.
Special thanks to his childhood friend and physician, Dr. Sam Fratesi for his exceptional care. Thanks also to the staff and nurses at the SAH Unit 3C, the Finnish Resthome, Dr.’s Sharpe, Patterson and Parsons and all his nurses for their professionalism and care during his time in hospital. The family would like to thank everyone who helped Louis physically and socially over the last few years. Even the smallest gesture of kindness made a difference in Louis’ life.
As per Louis’ wishes cremation has taken place with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
Donations in his memory to the Sault Area Hospital or the Finnish Resthome would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
