After returning home from Lansing, Michigan last weekend, the Soo Thunderbirds Midgets were back on the road in New Liskeard looking to get their fourth win in a row.
After trailing 1-0 after the first period courtesy of Gabriel Rheault’s seventh of the season, the T-Birds came storming out of the gate with three goals in the second. First it would be Matt MacKay’s fifth goal of the season which tied things up at one just 4:09 into the middle frame with Ryan Mulligan and Kirk Garson picking up the assists. The Soo would take a 2-1 lead just twenty three seconds later with Brad Thrower getting his seventh of the season from Noah Serre and Brendan Gillis. Zach Senecal’s eleventh of the season put the Soo up 3-1 after two with Jason Bednarski drawing the only assist at 12:16.
More unanswered goals compiled into the third period with Matt Murray getting his sixth of the season at 5:07 to put the Soo up 4-1 with Kirk Garson getting the lone helper. Jared Fanti would make it a 5-1 game at 8:50 with his fourth of the season with Zach Senecal and Lucas Millar adding assists. Cameron Moore’s second of the season cut the lead to three at 17:10, but the Thunderbirds would go on to their fourth straight victory defeating the New Liskeard Cubs 5-2 at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena. Joey Roberts was in goal for the Soo’s win tonight.
Next action for the Soo Thunderbirds Midgets is Saturday, November 15th at 7:30 when they visit Kapuskasing to take on the Flyers from the Sports Palace.
