The Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie & District are pleased to announce a new Director has been hired to replace current Executive Director, Lisa Vezeau-Allen, who is leaving the position due to family move to Boulder, Colorado.
Duane Moleni, will continue to lead and support the initiatives that have been put in place this past year, continuing the momentum of the hard work and dedication of exiting Director, staff, Board and volunteers.
Duane is a New Zealand native who made his way to South Korea, and then to our community and he has built his family and career in Sault Ste. Marie for the past nine years. He worked with young artists at the Banff Centre for Performing Arts in 2006 and 2007and most recently led the Passport to Unity from a one day event to three days of multi-cultural celebrations. He is a collaborator and believes in the power of community and positive relationship building.
“Duane will excel in this role, and he has the understanding and the capacity to connect people, most importantly understands the power of the arts on community, and I am thrilled to watch the results under his leadership,” says, Lisa Vezeau-Allen, outgoing Executive Director.
“As a Board we want to recognize, our funder, The Ontario Trillium Foundation in supporting the opportunity to grow our organization and work toward a sustainable future to assist us in supporting local artists and arts and culture as a whole,” says, Chris Rous, Board President.
