The 17th annual Festival Of Trees is on at the Canadian Bushplane Centre and not only does this fund raiser for the Algoma Lung Association help those with breathing problems locally, it’s also an inspiration for many on how to decorate their own – if they don’t win one of the trees on display.
According to Elise Nelson special events co-originator there are 70 trees on display all dressed to the nines, plus several other items for the raffle with prizes donated by local merchants. “First time at the Bushplane and I think it’s a nice change and the space, allowed us to add another 15 trees”
The first 21 trees are raffled off while the others including other items are set aside for the silent auction.
Nelson estimates the festival will attract a few thousand people by the time the doors close Sunday, the proceeds raised stays in the community for lung health research.
