The Soo Thunderbirds Midgets have returned to Great North Midget League action tonight after going 0-2 at last weekend’s Ferris State Showcase in Big Rapids, Michigan and were hoping to extend their winning streak to eight in the gateway city.

First it would be Devyn Martel getting his seventeenth goal of the season at 11:18 of the first period, with assists going to Jeff Jordan and Jacob Delisle to put North Bay up 1-0. The Soo would tie it up in the powerplay just 1:24 later as Matt MacKay notched his eighth from Jakob Porco and Jared Fanti.

The T-Birds took a 2-1 lead just 2:16 into the second as Matt Murray got his eighth on the powerplay with Jared Fanti picking up his second assist of the game. Jeff Jordan’s eighteenth of the season just 1:07 later would tie the game at two with Devyn Martel and Jacob Delisle getting his second helper of the night.  The Trappers would take a 3-2 lead just twenty one ticks later courtesy of unassisted goal and second of the season.

With the Soo trailing 3-2 through forty minutes, North Bay would go up by two just 1:36 in as Conor Eastaugh notched his sixth goal of the season from Lucas Nevrencan. Jack Drinkwalter would put North Bay up 5-2 at 6:40 with his sixth of the season from Dawson Meecham. Jeff Jordan’s second of the night and nineteenth of the season at 9:02 from Eric Allair would round out the scoring as the Thunderbirds winning streak would end at seven games dropping by a final score of 6-2 against the North Bay Trappers. Joey Roberts was in goal for the loss while Colton Point picked up the win for the Trappers.

Next action for the Soo continues in Saturday, November 29th right back in North Bay at 7:20 to take on the Trappers from West Ferris Community Centre.
