Tonight the Soo Thunderbirds AAA Midgets were looking to make it five wins in a row as they travelled to Kapuskasing to take on the Flyers. It would be the Soo getting on the board first just 3:45 into the opening period courtesy of Brendan Gillis’s shorthanded goal and fourteenth of the season. Then at the 5:38 mark, it would be the Flyers tying it up at one courtesy of Chad Robert’s fifth of the season with Raphael Lecours and Tyler Minoletti getting the assists.
With the teams tied 1-1 heading into the second, it would be a late goal by the Soo with just forty seven seconds left in the second courtesy of Jared Fanti’s fifth of the season.
The Soo hung on to defeat the Kapuskasing Flyers 2-1 tonight at the Sports Palace while improving their record to 13-4-0-1-0. Joey Roberts was in goal for the Soo’s victory.
Next action for the Thunderbirds is Sunday afternoon, November 16th at 1:30 when they travel to Timmins to take on the Majors from the McIntyre Arena.
